Understand the operation
A supply vessel, a construction support vessel and a platform have different routines. Before joining, ask about your duties, watch pattern, accommodation, travel arrangements and induction. Do not assume that one offshore contract describes every offshore job.
Work and rest belong together
Where it applies, the Maritime Labour Convention addresses working and living conditions including employment agreements, work and rest, accommodation, food and medical care. Read your agreement, understand the reporting procedure and raise fatigue or safety concerns promptly.
Join as part of a team
Learn the vessel-specific procedures, listen during handovers and ask when a task is unclear. Keep your emergency contacts and travel instructions accessible. Discuss the expected communication arrangements with your family and recruiter before departure.
General career guidance. Confirm current requirements with the flag administration, employer and approved training provider.
