Trap Sorter – MV Prowess

The position

MV Prowess is a Norwegian-registered snow crab vessel operating in the Barents Sea. The Trap Sorter joins the crew responsible for the catching and onboard processing cycle.

Responsibilities

• Sort crab pots after they are hauled onboard
• Clean, prepare and stack crab pots
• Take part in deck operations
• Follow all safety procedures
• Keep the work area clean and organised

Working conditions

Work is performed in low temperatures, strong winds and under high physical load. Operations run around the clock, including night shifts, with an intensive workload during the fishing season.

• 8 hours on / 8 hours off
• 4 weeks at sea, followed by 3–4 days ashore
• Food and workwear provided
• Employer-paid flight

Requirements and documents

Eligibility depends on citizenship and the final employment arrangement. Experience requirements must be confirmed with the recruiter.

• Norwegian work or residence permit when required
• STCW Basic Safety Training
• Valid Seafarer's Medical Certificate

Contract and pay

• €242 per day fixed rate
• Approximately €7,260 per 30 paid days
• Additional catch share bonus
• 3-month contract or 5+1 months: 5 working months plus 1 month by agreement

A catch plan is set each month. The catch share is paid when the plan is met or exceeded; the fixed rate is paid regardless of catch results. Visa expenses are paid by the candidate.
